Kitende falls short in CAF Africa Schools semi-finals

St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School-Kitende’s journey in the CAF Africa Schools championship came to an end with a 6-5 penalty shootout defeat to Senegal in the semifinals.
The match had ended goalless in regular time, with Senegal emerging victorious in the penalty shootout.
Senegal will now face defending champions Tanzania in the final, who secured their spot with a 1-0 win over hosts Ghana.
Kitende, meanwhile, will face Ghana in the bronze medal match, a rematch of the tournament’s opening fixture, which Ghana won 2-0.
Kitende had made a strong comeback in the tournament, bouncing back from a 2-0 defeat to Ghana in the group stage.
They stormed into the semifinals with convincing wins over Algeria (4-0) and South Africa (4-1), with goals from Henry Muhoozi, Nabir Kajjumba, Ashiraf Kyakuwa, and Yasin Nsubuga.
The winners of the boys’ competition will receive $300,000, with the runners-up and bronze medalists receiving $200,000 and $150,000, respectively, to support development projects in schools.
