Fresh Diary Secondary Schools Games: St. Noa Girls beat Kawempe to win first ever National trophy

St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana beat Kawempe Muslim Secondary School to win their ever first Fresh Diary Secondary Schools Games national girls football trophy.

A lone strike from Erycca Kanamunyeza off Sylvia Kabene’s through ball was the most important moment for St. Noa to see off long time rivals Kawempe Muslim in an epic final tie held at Pece Stadium in Gulu.

It was a memory rejuvenating moment for Fresh Diary Secondary Schools Games followers, organizers and the two finalists Kawempe Muslim and St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana for the two sides that paired in the previous final.

Kawempe Muslim beat St. Noa Girls in the 2019 Mbale edition by 4-3 after penalties following a goalless draw in the normal time.

St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana beat King of Kings 1-0 in the semi-final for a final slot.

Forward Sylvia Kabene scored the all important goal for St. Noa Girls to confirm a second successive final.

It’s should remembered that King of Kings bounced back into the race after winning a petition against Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga for fielding non-bonafied students against them in the quarter final.

Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga was banned for two years after losing the defence.

Reigning champions Kawempe Muslim who beat St. Noa Girls 4-3 after penalties following a goalless draw in 2019 during the Mbale edition, beat Rines SS 1-0 to reach the final.

U20 National team star Hadijjah Nandago scored for Kawempe Muslim Secondary School against Rines.

St. Noa Girls beat Amus College 1-0 in the quarter final to book a date with King of Kings who petitioned against Uganda Martyrs High School after a 1-0 loss.

In round of 16, St. Noa Girls Secondary Schools-Zana outclassed Wakiso district champions Taggy High School Entebbe by 3-0.

Erycca Kanamunyeza scored a brace to extend her tally to nine while Nancy Mabdera scored the other for St. Noa.

To reach this stage, St. Noa Girls Secondary-Zana sailed through group H as leaders with a 100% win record gunning 21 points, 41 goals and conceded once.

All together, St. Noa Girls have scored 47 goals against one.

National and FEASSSA champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary School who beat Bishops SS Mukono 1-0 in the quarter final stage.

Kawempe scored through Suzan Nalukoda’s header to reach semi-finals.

In the round of 16, Kawempe Muslim staged a thrilling performance against Acaba Girls in a 6-0 win.

Suzan Nalukoda scored a hat-trick, a goal from Nalumu Phiona, Hadija Nandago and Shakira Nyinagahirwa to seal a quarter final slot
