Former Uganda Cranes tactician Sebastian Desabre guides DR. Congo to 2024 AFCON finals

Appointed last year in August, Sebastian Desabre guided DR Congo to AFCON 2024 that will be held in Ivory Coast following a 2-0 victory over Sudan in their last group I match.

Goals from Theo Bongonda and Fitson Mayele saw DR Congo overtake Mauritania in Group I as the leopards secured AFCON Qualification.

Bongonda scored after just eight minutes into the game, slotting the ball home after being played in by Charles Pickel.

Until late into the game, Mayele fired in a second, just three minutes from time after good work from Meschack Elia to seal qualification slot as group leaders

The result saw DR Congo leapfrog Mauritania to top spot in the group as they qualified for the tournament to be played in Cote d’Ivoire next year.

Desabre hasn’t lost any official match with the leopards.

He (Desabre) played six (6) matches, won five (5) and drew one (1) to sail DR. Congo through to the 2024 Ivory Coast finals as group I leaders.
