BUL FC thrashes Total to sdvance to Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter-finals

BUL FC delivered a resounding 7-0 victory over West Nile regional league side Total in the round of 16 match held at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
The Eastern Giants’ convincing win secured their spot in the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinals, joining Kitara, Police, SC Villa, and KCCA in the last eight.
Jeromy Kirya opened the scoring in the 27th minute, converting a penalty kick after Karim Ndugwa was fouled in the box.
Ndugwa then doubled BUL’s lead, capitalizing on a brilliant pass from Fredrick Ngalo, to give the hosts a 2-0 advantage at halftime.
Upon returning for the second half, Ndugwa completed his brace, notching BUL’s third goal of the day, assisted by Isaac Wagoina in the 47th minute.
The floodgates then opened, with Lawrence Tezikya scoring in the 75th minute, followed by Wagoina’s first goal in the 81st minute, and Reagan Kalyowa’s strike in the 83rd minute.
Wagoina sealed his brace in the 89th minute, scoring BUL’s seventh goal of the day, to complete the 7-0 rout.
Notably, BUL played without their first-choice goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa, who is away on national duty with the Uganda Cranes in Egypt.
However, John Okurut proved to be an able replacement, keeping a clean sheet in the victory.
The remaining three quarterfinal slots will be determined on Wednesday, March 20, as six teams clash in the round of 16.
UPDF will visit Kaaro Karungi in Ntungamo, while URA will host Kataka at Nakivubo, and Vipers will welcome Blacks Power at the Kitende floodlights.
