UPL: Busoga United register maiden win against Onduparaka
Busoga United registered their maiden win against Onduparaka FC with a 2-0 victory at the Fufa Technical Training Centre in Njeru on Wednesday.
Goals from Onen Balabala and Isma Mugulusi in either half was enough for the Busoga region club to record the win as the Caterpillars started the second round of the Premier League season on the wrong footing.
Balabala scored the opener for the home side in the third minute from the penalty spot after Geriga Atendele brought down Shaka Ssozi.
The scorer then found the back of the net as goalkeeper Tony Kyamera could not stop the opponents from taking the lead.
Busoga United doubled the lead in the 52nd minute through Mugulusi.
The youngster, who was named the man of the match after the game, received a cross from Ssozi, beat his marker and sent the ball into the far post to extend the advantage for a dominant Busoga United.
This was Busoga United’s fourth consecutive Ugandan Premier League victory as they continue to look like a more solid side.
Busoga United is now 11th with 17 points from 16 games played while Onduparaka is eighth with 21 points played.
