FAU: 30 complete Futsal refereeing course

A three-day FIFA futsal refereeing course organized by the Futsal Association of Uganda (FAU) climaxed on Friday, 26th March 2021 at Jevine Hotel, Ndeeba.

The zoom course which was under FIFA instructor Perry Guatier started on Wednesday 24th to Friday 26th March 2021 and attracted 30 Ugandan participants/referees 7 of whom were females

15 Futsal Super league referees were awarded with 2021 season badges and a total of 30 received FIFA certificates to for passing exams in the concluded course.

The workshop came after FIFA recommendations indicated in circular 1719 passed on 29th May 2020 notifying an update on Futsal Laws of the Game bringing them into line with a number of modifications previously made in football.

The amendments to the Futsal Laws of the Game for the 2020/21 edition were approved by the Bureau of the FIFA Council on 8th April 2020 and came into force as of 1st June 2020 despite competitions suspension due to COVID-19.

According to FAU chairman Hamza Jjunju, the aims of the workshop/course are as below.
“We aimed at training Ugandan Futsal referees in the masterly and application of Futsal Laws of the game and attaining FUFA vision for becoming the number one country on and off the pitch. Before he added.
If the 11 aside national team fails to qualify for the next World, Futsal shall become the first football brand to play at the World Cup as we target the forthcoming event in 2026.” Jjunju.

Kalema Ronnie, a FUFA Excom member called upon participants to have focus at their career direction and work tirelessly for the development of the game.
“You must always have an idea on why you decided to join what you are doing. Be determined to move a journey in it for a reward at it’s end.
You should execute your duties with high levels of integrity and discipline. As a country, we are focusing to taking referees at the forthcoming World Cup events with in the football brand. Take chances and always be ready to have the best results.” Kalema.

The closing ceremony was graced by FUFA first Vice president Darius Mugoye, FUFA deputy CEO in charge of football Decolas Kiiza and Ronnie Kalema.
