Inaugural Badminton Uganda Kabojja International Schools Championship starts

The inaugural Badminton Uganda Kabojja International School championship started today, September 13, 2025, at Kabojja International School in Buziga, attracting 120 talented young players from vvarious Kabojja schools.

The two-day tournament, which will conclude on September 14, features competitors in four age brackets: U10, U13, U15, and U19, competing in both singles and doubles.

Uganda Badminton Chairman, Annet Nakamya, praised Kabojja for its investment in world-class sports infrastructure, saying, “Today we are here to launch the Uganda Badminton Kabojja International Schools championship.

Kabojja is a top school, and everything here is world-class. As Uganda Badminton, this partnership is beyond what we expected.

It adds a lot of value to the sport. World-class facilities like these foster healthy competition and bonding, which is beneficial for the sport and the Federation.”

Head of School (Cambridge), Sandy Bansal, emphasized the importance of sports in a child’s development, stating, “We believe sports is very important in the general growth of a child.

We are in a world where digital media is taking over, and social media is dominant, but here, movement is crucial.

Not all students have their futures mapped out, but we have seen stars and billionaires made from sports.”

The championship promises to be an exciting platform for young badminton enthusiasts to showcase their skills and compete at an international level.
