From St. Noa to Buddo: St. Mary’s Kitende riots over Buddo to win 20th FEASSA title

Defending champions St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School-Kitende has successfully defended its Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Associations (FEASSA) Netball Championship title, staging a thrilling 46-30 win over national champions Buddo Secondary School in the final.

The match, played at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kakamega, Kenya, saw Kitende’s dominance on display, as they outplayed Buddo SS to claim their 20th title in 22 editions.

The win serves as a perfect revenge for Kitende, who lost to Buddo SS 29-25 in the National championship in Tororo.

Kitende’s journey to the final was marked by a convincing 59-32 semi-final win over 2018 champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana, setting up a final tie against rivals Buddo Secondary School.

Buddo SS, on the other hand, reached the final with a 12-goal margin win over newbies Hamdan Islamic, scoring 46-38 in the semi-finals.

In the third-place classification match, St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana emerged victorious, winning 56-44 against Hamdan Islamic to claim the bronze medal.

St. Mary’s Kitende’s dominance in the FEASSA Netball tournament is evident, with only two other schools, Gombe SS (2002) and St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana (2018), managing to break their dominance and claim the title.

Kitende’s 20 titles in 22 editions are a testament to their exceptional performance and dedication to the sport.
