Somber mood for Kitende, Amus College as Bukedea and Buddo shine on day one
In a stunning turn of events, Bukedea and Buddo made a resounding statement on the inaugural day of the 2025 Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Association (FEASSA) boys’ football tournament.
The somber mood that had settled over the St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School-Kitende and Amus College School camps was a testament to the slim defeats they suffered in their opening fixtures.

At Mukumu Boys School grounds, Bukedea Comprehensive School edged out Kitende 2-1 in a nail-biting encounter.
Patrick Ssenkusu’s swift strike five minutes after the break gave Bukedea the early advantage.
But, celebrations were short lived as Kitende’s stalwart forward Denis Kisiriko equalized four minutes later, in the 54th minute, kindling hopes of a comeback.
However, Denis Ssewagude’s majestic free kick, born from a handball infringement at the cusp of the 18-yard box, sealed Bukedea’s fate in the 71st minute.
In another electrifying matchup, reigning National champions Buddo Secondary School trumped FEASSA defending champions Amus College 1-0 in an all-Ugandan showdown.
Mushini Kizito’s decisive goal catapulted Buddo to the top of the standings, as they bagged maximum points in their opener.
Uganda’s quartet of boys’ football teams, comprising perennial powerhouses St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School-Kitende, Buddo SS, defending champions Amus, and Bukedea Comprehensive School, are vying for supremacy in the FEASSA Games.
Following today’s official opening ceremony, the action will resume tomorrow, with Kenya’s President William Ruto expected to lend his presence to the festivities at the revamped Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega City.
