Kabaka Cup: Kitende, Buddo, and St. Julian advance to round of 16

In a classy display, defending champions Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga have been eliminated from the 2025 Kabaka Cup, suffering a 3-1 defeat at the hands of St. Mary’s Kitende.

Isaac Tebenkana was the star of the show, scoring a brace to take his tally to five goals and propel himself to the top of the goal scorers’ table.

Bitwayiki Bahati added the third goal for Kitende, while William Mazipaka scored a consolation for Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga.

The victory solidified Kitende’s position at the top of the table with six points from two games, following their 4-1 win over St. Mbuga Vocational in the group opener.

Another powerhouse, Buddo SS, eased past Kampala-based Caltec Academy with a 2-0 victory, courtesy of goals from Shakur Babi and Muhshin Kizito.

The win propelled Buddo SS to seven points and the top spot in Group J.

In other matches, St. Austin High School thrashed Life College Kitagobwa 4-0, with Godfrey Kangawo, Sharif Kalule, and Philemon Kyangwa finding the back of the net.

Kawempe Muslim SS also secured a 2-0 win over St. Raphel Future Bells College School, thanks to goals from Abdulraham Mutebi and Shafik Mugalula.

Meanwhile, Buziga Islamic bounced back from their opening two losses to record a resounding 5-0 victory over Lake View Kitinda, with Joel Waiswa Kirunda scoring four times and Shema Arafat Kabayinza adding the fifth goal.

In Group E, St. Julian High School advanced to the Round of 16 after playing to a draw against Greenlight Islamic and securing a 1-0 win against Skyline.

The last group game between Greenlight Islamic and Skyline ended in a goalless draw, allowing St. Julian to emerge as group winners with four points, ahead of Greenlight and Skyline, who each have two points.
