The 2025 Buganda Cup draws took place today, March 6, at Bulange in Mengo, during the Buganda Schools competitions organizing committee technical meeting.

The meeting confirmed entries and dates for the championship, with 40 teams set to compete.

Football action kicks off on Wednesday, March 12, ahead of the official opening ceremony scheduled for Thursday, March 13, at Kawanda SS.

All games are slated to conclude on Sunday, March 16.

In a thrilling draw, last year’s champions, Uganda Martyrs High School – Lubaga, were paired with Uganda Giants St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School – Kitende in Group A.

Oweek. Robert Serwanga emphasized the importance of support for the participating teams, urging directors and head teachers to “kindly support all games teachers in this upcoming tournament. Who knows that one student/pupil you are stopping from taking part will shine and through him or her the school may achieve!!!”

A total of 40 secondary and 17 primary schools have confirmed participation, with secondary school football for boys capped at 40 teams.

The competition will feature 8 groups of 5 teams each, with other draws to be announced in due course.

Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga will be looking to defend their title, having defeated hosts Kawanda SS 7-6 in penalty kicks following a goalless full-time draw in the previous edition.

Meanwhile, St. Noa Boarding Junior School – Zana are the boys reigning champions in the primary schools category.
