The stage is set for the 2nd annual T.E.C.H for the World Chess Championship
Preparations are underway for the highly anticipated 2nd annual T.E.C.H for the World Chess Championship, scheduled to take place from January 29th to 31st, 2025, at the Sports Outreach Resource Center in Kiwawu, Mityana Road.
The three-day tournament will feature FIDE-rated 8 rounds, with participants competing in various categories.
This year’s championship has attracted a diverse pool of talented players from seven SOM Inter Project Chess Academy centers across the country, including Kampala, Gulu, Jinja, Kagadi, Masaka, Hoima, and Budaka.
The tournament is divided into Junior and Open categories for both boys and girls, with Primary and Secondary school students vying for top honors.
The organizers has lined up an impressive array of prizes to motivate the participants.
The top performers in each category will receive cash prizes, certificates, medals, and trophies.
The ultimate prize, however, is the one-year scholarship that will be awarded to the winner of each section.
The tournament is a collaborative effort between SOM Chess Academy, Robert Katende Initiative, Sports Outreach Kiwawu, and T.E.C.H for the World.
As the chess community gears up for this exciting event, all eyes will be on the young talents as they battle it out for glory and recognition.
