I’m proud of the excellent work I have found - CAF president after facilities inspection in Uganda

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe concluded his two-day tour of the nations that will host the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) with Uganda.

Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s visit to the three countries started on Thursday in Tanzania before moving to Kenya on Friday morning and ended in Uganda in the evening.

During his visit to Uganda, Motsepe was impressed with the excellent work he found on the ground.

“I’m very proud of the excellent work I have found on the ground.

I leave Uganda excited and with confidence. Good work has been done and the stadium is also in excellent condition.

I also saw the training field for the National teams that will be here and there is work going on two other”. CAF president Dr Patrice Motsepe.

Dr. Motsepe further rang the bells of unity that CHAN will bring to the East African community and Africa as whole during and after the championship.

“The people of Uganda, this is a coming together. The corporation of our people in Uganda and also the unification of our people in the East African Community.

The unity of East Africa will also involve the countries that are coming from other African States.

During this CHAN, East Africa is hosting Africa and this is a beautiful symbol of unity of Africa

This is the beauty of football, it can inspire and unite all our people from different racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds”.

Motsepe was also impressed with the presentations and asserted that, the CHAN championship has laid a good foundation for the 2027 AFCON.

“To the people of Uganda, we are going to have the most successful CHAN tournament in February.

Depending on what I have seen today, I’m confident by the first week of January, everything will be done.

Even though the focus now and exclusive concern is January and February CHAN, but the good work done is an excellent foundation for 2027″.

As it was the case in Tanzania, Zanzibar and Kenya, Dr Patrice Motsepe’s journey ended with a meeting with the Head of State HE. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in State House, Entebbe.

The president moved a long side with CAF 4th Vice-President Seidou Mbombo Njoya, Chairperson of the CHAN Organising Committee, as well as CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba.

During his visit, Dr Motsepe visited Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Kasarani and the Nyayo National Stadium, Mandela National Stadium in Namboole and a number of training venues.

The next inspection is expected to in early January 2025.
