UCU dethrones Kampala University in Netball as Bugema settles for Bronze
As the 13th edition of Eastern Africa University Games nears climax, Uganda teams continue to prove their dominance and supremacy in the region.
In Netball, Uganda Christian University beat Kampala University 37-34 on the final held on Thursday afternoon to win this year’s Gold medal.
UCU head coach, Nelson James Bogere asserted the secret behind the Netball success.
“Kampala University is a good and hard team to play against.
We had to stage a spirited fight to win this Gold Medal. Bogere.
I thank my girls for the composer in the game.” Said UCU head coach Nelson James Bogere.
On the other hand, Kampala University coach Jesse Asiimwe said;
“I am happy for my girls. We almost came with a new team.
This has been their first time to play East Africa championship.
Losing with a difference of three goals against a team that has been together for years and have experience is a boost that in the coming years, we are going to be stronger.” Jesse Asiimwe
In the third place classification match, Bugema University beat Makerere University Business School 52-47 to win the bronze medal.
