WITH a blazing firing from all cylinders, NEMO gives the Moil-sponsored crew of Yasin Nasser and Ally Katumba an early lead of the two-day Mkwawa Rally of Morogoro, that reeved off on Saturday in Forest areas of Morogoro, Tanzania.

The fully rebuilt Ford Fiesta Rally2 from M-Sport UK after the 2024 WRC Safari Rally accident got no resistance from any local crew as it smoothly sailed the crew in day one’s two competitive stages.

The moil crew posted the fastest times of 15 minutes, 01.6 seconds in 19km SS1 (Mosi1) and eight minutes,57.2 seconds in 13km SS2(Kiagi1) stages, respectively.

Nasser took command of the Rally with a lead of one minute and 44 seconds apart from the Ford proto crew of Ahmed Huwel and Rahim Suleiman, who ended the day one second.

Soundly happy about his early rally lead in his chat with the writer, Nasser seemed reserved as they awaited to see their final results from their Sunday outing.

Other local top boys that raised their race bar on Saturday, are Gurpal Sandhu in a Mitsubishi Evo X, Samir Nahdi in a Ford Proto and Manveer Birdi in an Evo9, tying at the same minutes of running by the end of day one, all at 26 minutes, only separated by 13 and 24 seconds in the third, fourth and fifth positional order.

The same two stages run on Saturday are being driven thrice today (Sunday), and the rally will be done.
