Masaza Cup: Buddu beat Kyadondo, Kyaggwe squeeze past Buwekula to move step closer to final

Masaza Cup Semi-finals

Kyadondo 1-3 Buddu

Kyaggwe 2-1 Buwekula

The 2024 Masaza Cup semi-finals were held yesterday at two different venues of Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku and Mukono.

A win for each of the two Buddu and Kyaggwe, drew a first leg advantage ahead of the highly anticipated return legs this weekend.

Buddu took full control of their 3-1 win over Kyaddondo at Muteesa II Stadium.

Micheal Kayongo and Mike Walaga scored the three goals for Buddu while Isaac Ssenyunja had given hosts Kyaddondo the lead.

The two time champions Buddu came from a goal down to cruise to a victory.

Meanwhile, Herbert Asiimwe’s an early 2nd minute strike was not enough for Buweekula to win the day as they bottled the advantage to lose 2-1.

Steven Nyalimu levelled matters for the home side Kyaggwe in the first stanza before completing his brace early into the second period.

The 2-1 for Kyaggwe also ended Buweekula’s unbeaten run to this year’s championship.

Kyaggwe under the stewardship of David Mutono are searching for their first ever final.

Felik Ssekabuza’s Buweekula have work to do in the return leg due next Sunday if they are to reach a third Masaza Cup final having reached the 2012 and 2021 finals before.

The two sides will next face off on Sunday in the return fixture at Kitovu to determine who progresses to the final due on November, 2nd 2024.
