Bobosi, Lwanga, Derrick Nsibambi back to Cranes set up as Shafik Nana Kwikiriza earns first summon

APR midfielder Taddeo Lwanga, Derrick Nsibambi and Austin II’s Bobosi Byaruhanga have returned to the Uganda Cranes folds after being summoned ahead of the 2025 Afcon qualifiers double header against neighbors South Sudan.

The 27 man squad announcement was done today by head coach Paul Joseph Put at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.

For the first time since 2023 under Milutin Micho Sredojevic, midfielder Tadeo Lwanga will feature for Uganda and this will be his first appearance since Paul Joseph Put took over as Uganda Cranes coach.

The former Vipers and Villa captain Lwanga recently played in the second round of the CAF Champions League preliminaries, where his side failed to reach the group stages, falling to Egyptian Pyramids.

Striker Derrick Nsibambi has been out of the national team folds for a long time.

His second stint at KCCA this season started well. The forward has scored one goal and an assist in three games.

Bobosi Byaruhanga who also missed the previous games against South Africa and Congo Brazzaville due to visa issues in back in the team.

KCCA FC’s magic young star Shafik Kwikiriza has earned his first calling and Sandvikens IF Calvin Kabuye.

The Uganda Cranes lead Group K with four points from two outings and host South Sudan on October 11 before visiting the latter four days later.
