PAU chairman Bob Trubish reveals a four-year strategic plan for new term

After his return as the Chairman, Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) for another four year term, Bob Trubish has announced his strategic plan.

In a planned first executive meeting held on Tuesday, 6th February 2024 a number of resolutions were passed including converting the Association into a federation.

“Our focus is to transform pool in the country to be able to recruit more players while making it more beneficial for those in the system”. Bob Trubish.

The strategic plan also centers around sponsorships and partnerships, turning in federation, talent management, infrastructure & sustainability, brand building, increase on competitions including school championships.

“Sponsorships will allow the Association to improve the quality of our events, increase prize money for players, and better support for our National Teams at international competitions.


“We still have a long way to become a federation. Regional bodies should be implemented with a clear roadmap by 2025. We are currently going through a constitutional amendment to align with the new Sports Act 2023”.

While reacting on the talent development strategy, Bob Trubish said, “Uganda has much untapped talent especially in the youth.
We plan to interest children in pool at an early age through schools and university programs, we can cultivate this talent and support these players as they progress to compete at the highest levels”.

Under infrastructure, PAU intends to own land and set up a world-class facility including hostels, auditoriums for players to train, compete and showcase their skills.

The permanent infrastructure will also be the Association headquarters. This will raise the profile of pool in Uganda and allow Uganda to host major regional and continental events.

The other key areas of focus are building a brand, empowering of players by the formation of Pool prayers’ Sacco, introducing a Pool-tailored insurance, increasing pool events
The chairman further revealed an expanded PAU calendar.

The new calendar carries women’s day cup, Novice championships, talent search, corporate competitions and school competitions as new competitions.
