In a historic clash between two debutants, Winsa Primary School – Wakiso claimed their maiden Buganda Primary Schools Netball Championship title after a commanding performance in the final.

The final, held on Sunday, 15th March at the Kawanda Secondary School Grounds, saw Winsa defeat Kanjjuki Junior School from Kayunga 28–18 to lift the coveted trophy and cap a remarkable campaign.

Winsa’s road to the final was equally impressive. In the group stage, they recorded a commanding 33–00 victory over Stallions Nursery and Primary School – Ttula, followed it with a 16–10 win against Joy Mother, and later secured a 20–6 triumph over Kyeyune Islamic Primary School.

Their dominant run continued in the semi-finals where they eliminated Good Times Primary School – Kawaala with a convincing 25–9 victory to book a place in the final.

On the other hand, Kanjjuki Junior School also enjoyed a flawless group stage campaign.

The Kayunga-based side won all their matches, defeating Twinbrook Schools 19–4, overcoming Good Times Primary School 15–9, and thrashing St. Apollo 18–0 to advance to the knockout stage.

In the semi-finals, Kanjjuki produced another strong display, comfortably dispatching Kyeyune Islamic Primary School with a 20–0 victory to set up the final showdown with Winsa.

Attention now shifts to the next major event on the schools’ netball calendar — the National Rally scheduled to take place from 26th to 28th March at Kaddugala Secondary School in Masaka.
