Vipers SC held to a frustrating draw by struggling Calvary FC in Yumbe
Vipers SC’s title hopes were dealt a blow as they were held to a goalless draw by bottom-placed Calvary FC at the Midigo Primary School grounds in Yumbe.
The champions, who were looking to reclaim the top spot in the Uganda Premier League, had to settle for second place with 18 points, two points behind leaders KCCA.
The match was a tense and tactical affair, with Calvary’s gritty defending and goalkeeper Fauzu Tatiga’s outstanding performance frustrating Vipers’ attempts to score.
Despite dominating possession, Vipers failed to break the deadlock, with Milton Karisa and Yunus Ssentamu’s efforts coming to nothing.
Calvary, on the other hand, celebrated a hard-earned point, their second of the season, and will be looking to build on this momentum in their battle for survival.
The result leaves Vipers ruing a missed opportunity to take the top spot, while Calvary will take pride in their resilience against one of the league’s giants.
