Vipers SC drawn against African Stars in CAF Champions League Challenge

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have learned their path to the Group Stage of the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League following the preliminary round draw held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Venoms will face Namibia’s African Stars in the First Preliminary Round, a crucial tie that will determine their fate in the competition.

If Vipers SC advances to the Second Preliminary Round, they will meet the winner between Power Dynamos of Zambia and ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire.

The first leg of the First Preliminary Round is scheduled for September 19-21, 2025, with Vipers playing away, before hosting the return leg at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende between September 26-28, 2025.

If they progress, Vipers will host the first leg of the Second Preliminary Round between October 17-19, before traveling for the return leg between October 24-26.

This will be Vipers’ fourth appearance in the CAF Champions League.

In their previous campaigns, they have had mixed results, including being eliminated in the Preliminary Round in 2016, knocked out in the First Round in 2018/20219, and reaching the Group Stage for the first time in 2022/23 but finishing bottom of the group.

Vipers will be hoping to draw from that experience as they aim to secure back-to-back group stage appearances and make a deeper run in this year’s competition.

With their sights set on making a strong impression in the CAF Champions League, Vipers SC will need to be at the top of their game to overcome the challenges ahead.

Their determination to succeed will be put to the test as they face tough opponents and navigate the demands of the competition.

Can Vipers SC make a deep run in the tournament and bring glory to Ugandan football? Only time will tell.
