Vipers Sports Club stormed back to the top of the Uganda Premier League table with a commanding 3-0 victory over Lugazi on Tuesday night, delivering all three goals in a ruthless first-half display.
The Venoms wasted little time asserting dominance. Defender Rogers Torach Ochaki ignited the rout with a stunning 40-yard strike that left goalkeeper Muhammad Kakooza flat-footed.
Ten minutes later, Arafat Usama Kiza doubled the advantage with another long-range effort of rare quality.
Odili Chukwuma then put the contest beyond doubt, drilling home at the near post to send Vipers into the interval with a comfortable cushion.
The hosts had earlier been forced into an unplanned adjustment after Tadeo Lwanga collided with Joseph Othieno in the ninth minute, prompting Paul Patrick Mbowa’s introduction.
Despite improved resistance after the break, Lugazi failed to breach Vipers’ control, and the scoreline remained unchanged.
The victory lifts Vipers to 41 points, two clear of Kitara, who defeated Entebbe UPPC 2-0 at Butema Playground in Hoima, tightening the title race at the summit.
