KAMPALA – The venerable halls of Sports Club Villa are abuzz with anticipation as four contenders step forward to claim the club’s coveted presidential seat.

Incumbent Hajji Omar Ahmed Hussein faces a formidable challenge from Bulezi Kawuma, Denis Ssebugwawo Mbidde, and Hajji Farouk Meywa, all of whom have formally collected nomination forms, signaling the official start of a high-stakes campaign.

The development was confirmed on Thursday evening by Brian Kajubi, chairperson of the Sports Club Villa Electoral Commission, at Kulambiro.

A distinguished sports lawyer with a track record in managing Uganda Olympic Committee elections, Kajubi vowed that the forthcoming polls will be “fair, transparent, and unyielding to external pressures.”

Guided by four legal pillars—the Villa Members Trust Deed, the club’s regulations, the electoral code, and the governance principles of FIFA and FUFA—the commission is determined to ensure a credible process.

“We are competent, confident, and committed to delivering a peaceful, democratic election,” Kajubi affirmed, his resolve echoing through the gathered press.

The electoral roadmap is now set. Fan registration closes on 15th March 2026, while nomination forms must be returned by 7th March.

Vetting by the Trustees follows on 8th March, and the adhoc Committee will adjudicate any complaints on 10th March, after which the successful candidates will be officially declared ahead of the March 22nd showdown.

Voting will be conducted by secret ballot, with diaspora participation still under consideration.

Kajubi’s commission, comprising Afande Fred Enanga, Brandon Kajura, and Desire Mukisa, has pledged meticulous oversight of every stage.

With the players now revealed and the calendar set, the Villa presidency race promises intrigue, strategy, and the fervor of loyal supporters—a battle not merely for a title, but for the soul of one of Uganda’s most storied football institutions.
