USSSA National Boys Football: Buddo SS beat Kitende to claim third title in thrilling penalty shootout

In a nail-biting final, Buddo Secondary School has emerged victorious, clinching their third USSSA Boys’ National Football Championship title.
The team defeated long-time rivals St. Mary’s Secondary School Kitende 6-5 in a penalty shootout, following a goalless draw in regulation time.
Under the guidance of head coach Richard Malinga, Buddo SS held their nerve to claim the championship, exacting sweet revenge for their 2-0 defeat to Kitende at the district level earlier in the season.
This latest triumph adds to Buddo’s previous national titles in 2009 and 2018, solidifying their status as one of the dominant forces in Ugandan school football.
The final match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating chances but unable to score in regulation time.
The penalty shootout proved to be the deciding factor, with Buddo SS emerging victorious.
Bukedea Comprehensive School finished third at the tournament, rounding off a competitive championship.
The top four teams – Buddo SS, St. Mary’s SS Kitende, Bukedea Comprehensive, and Amus College – have now earned the right to represent Uganda at this year’s Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games in Kenya.
The championship win marks a significant achievement for Buddo SS, and their fans are jubilant about their team’s success.
With this win, Buddo SS cements its position as one of the top teams in Ugandan school football, and their performance at the FEASSSA Games will be eagerly anticipated.
