USSSA Elite championship draws held giants St. Mary’s Kitende, St. Noa Girls, Kawempe, Standard High-Zana to feature
The draws for the 3rd edition of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Elite championship have been held on Thursday 24th February 2022 at Old Kampala.
Defending champions and Copa Coca-Cola champions St. Mary’s Kitende have been pooled in group A alongside, Jinja Progressive Academy, Dynamic SS, Bishop Sacrament Kimaanya.
Group B is comprised of 2017 Copa Coca-Cola champions Jinja Secondary School, Standard High School-Zana, Royal Giant Mityana and Ryakasinga Che.
Girls Football that will be played on Round Robin has attracted only six teams including defending champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana, Gaddafi integrated, National and East African champions Kawempe Muslim, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga, Dynamic Secondary School and God Cares High School.
In netball, National and East African champions St Mary’s Kitende, Dynamic SS, Mukono SS, Baptist High School, Mengo SS and Blessed Sacrament Kimaanya will battle for glory in a round Robin format and all games will be at St Mary’s Kitende Netball courts.
Girls basketball attracted Seroma, National champions St Mary’s Kitende, Mary Hill and Nabisunsa Girls.
As it’s a case with netball, all basketball games are at St Mary’s Kitende courts and it’s Round Robin.
After a technical and executive meeting last week, USSSA confirmed 25th – 27th February as the set dates for holding the 3rd edition of the Elite Secondary Schools Championship.
The championship which was last held in 2020 at Old Kampala Secondary, will return with three sports disciplines including Football for boys and girls, Basketball and, netball for only girls.
St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana are the reigning champions in girls football, netball and basketball. However, they have presented only one team for football girls.
St. Mary’s Kitende are boys football defending champions whilst Bethel won boys basketball.
