The future of the Uganda Premier League hangs in the balance as Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President Engineer Moses Magogo revealed that the proposed new league format may or may not be implemented.

Following a closed-door meeting between the Uganda Premier League chairmen and the FUFA executive committee, Magogo stated, “We may play the league under the proposed reforms or not.”

The uncertainty stems from opposition by two prominent club presidents, Dr. Lawrence Mulindawa and Hajji Omar Mandela, who issued an ultimatum rejecting the new format.

Despite the release of the 2024/25 fixture list earlier this week, with the season set to kick off on September 26, the league’s fate remains uncertain, pending further deliberations.
