Uganda’s Victoria Pearls secure semi-final spot with convincing win over Kenya

Uganda’s Victoria Pearls have sealed their spot in the semi-finals of the ICC Africa Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers, registering a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Kenya.

Captain Janet Mbabazi led the charge with an unbeaten 63 off 61 balls, guiding Uganda to a comfortable win.

Kenya posted 107/8 in their 20 overs, with Venasa Ooko top-scoring 41 off 32 balls and Esther Wachira contributing 25 runs. Uganda’s bowlers applied consistent pressure, with Concy Aweko and Immaculate Nakisuuyi standing out. Aweko’s impressive spell yielded 2/12, while Nakisuuyi claimed 1/26.

In response, Uganda effortlessly chased down the target of 108, reaching 108/2 in 18.4 overs.

Mbabazi’s unbeaten 63 was well-supported by Rita Musamali, who scored 21 off 18 balls.

The pair’s steady partnership sealed Uganda’s victory, setting the stage for a thrilling semifinal clash against Zimbabwe.

With this win, Uganda is just one victory away from securing a spot in the final and taking a significant step toward the Global Qualifiers.

The semifinal matches are scheduled as follows:

– Zimbabwe vs Uganda: 10:30 am, Thursday, Namibia Cricket Ground

– Tanzania vs Namibia: 3:30 pm, Thursday, Namibia Cricket Ground
