Uganda’s Badminton stars set to shine at All Africa Senior Championships, ten flagged to Gaborone
Uganda’s badminton team has been flagged off to Gaborone, Botswana, for the 2026 All Africa Senior Championships, scheduled to take place from February 9 to 15.
The delegation of 12 includes 10 players, with five women, who will compete in singles and doubles events.

NCS’s Assistant General Secretary Milton Chebet emphasized the importance of discipline, hard work, and patriotism, saying, “Sports requires discipline and hard work. As athletes, always be focused to achieve the best whenever you have a chance.
Patriotism should be key. Love your country and always be proud to represent Uganda.”
The team boasts a mix of experienced and new players, including rising stars Arafat Kibirige Tendo, Akbar Oduka, and Denis Mukasa, who have previously competed at the World Junior Championships.

Tracy Naluwooza will captain the team, stating, “It’s an honour to lead this team. This is my first time captaining a national team, and I’m taking it with open arms and a warm heart. We are going out to compete, and everyone is ready to represent Uganda with a long-lasting smile in the National colours”.

Uganda will face stiff competition from 16 other countries, including Nigeria, Egypt, and South Africa.
The best teams in both men’s and women’s categories will represent Africa at the TotalEnergies BWF Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in Horsens, Denmark.
