Ugandan football legend Hakim ‘Boda Boda’ Magumba honored with lifetime achievement award

Renowned Ugandan football icon Hakim “Boda Boda” Magumba has been feted with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly ceremony, held at Lazio Restaurant in Kololo.

The former SC Villa, Iganga, Atraco FC, and Uganda Cranes maestro used the platform to express his gratitude and reflect on his illustrious career.

In his acceptance speech, Magumba thanked his parents, administrators, and FUFA presidents who supported him throughout his journey.

He also urged young players to stay clean and avoid substance abuse, saying, “I played 20 years without using drugs. Football and drugs cannot go together. Young players must protect themselves and protect the game.”

The ceremony also recognized outstanding performers across various sports, with swimmer Gloria Muzito claiming the top accolade, footballer James Bogere voted best performer, and golfer Joseph Cwinya-Ai taking home the award for his impressive showing at the Kinyara Sugar Open.

The event celebrated both legends who have shaped Uganda’s sporting history and rising stars poised to carry that legacy forward.

Magumba’s award serves as a testament to his enduring impact on Ugandan football, and his message to young players is a reminder of the importance of integrity and dedication in sports.
