
Uganda shines in CAF U-15 Schools’ Football Championship, Kitende and Kawempe roar
Uganda’s U-15 boys’ and girls’ teams got off to a flying start in the CAF U-15 Schools’ football championship, CECAFA Zone qualifiers 2025, held in Uganda.
The boys’ team, comprising players from St Mary’s Kitende, throttled Djibouti 9-0 in their opening match, with Nabir Kajjumba scoring a hat-trick.
Lucky Wanyama added a brace, while Livingston Kulata, Henry Muhoozi, Owen Mukisa, and Nicholas Kawooya chipped in with a goal each.
In the girls’ category, Kawempe Muslim SS represented Uganda and secured a 2-1 win over Burundi.
Lydia Nameseruja equalized for Uganda after falling behind, and Grace Kawino scored the winner in the 26th minute.
In Kawempe Muslim’s second game of the day, Lydia Namaseruka scored a brace as Uganda won 2-0 over Rwanda.
Other results saw South Sudan edge Rwanda 2-1, while Rwanda and Tanzania drew 0-0 in the boys’ category.
Tanzania thumped Djibouti 6-0 in the girls’ category.
