Uganda Boxing Federation introduces Licensing Commission to Sports Minister

The Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) has taken a significant step forward by officially introducing its licensing commission members to the Minister of Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, and the General Secretary of the National Council of Sports, Dr. Ogwel Bernad.
The UBF delegation, led by federation president Moses Muhangi, included all members of the Licensing Commission.
According to Muhangi, the meeting aimed to formally introduce the UBF Licensing Commission to the minister and the National Council of Sports, ensuring clarity on who to engage with regarding professional boxing matters.
The discussion also touched on funding for the UBF, considering the increased activities resulting from the new sports law.
Additionally, international affiliations with organizations like the World Boxing Council, African Boxing Confederation, and World Professional Boxing Federation were addressed, highlighting opportunities for Ugandan boxers.
The absence of boxing in schools was another critical topic discussed during the meeting.
To align with the new sports act, the Licensing Commission will oversee professional boxing in Uganda.
This development follows the UBF’s recognition by the African Boxing Union (ABU), World Boxing Council, African Boxing Confederation, and World Professional Boxing Federation.
The introduction of the Licensing Commission marks a significant milestone for the UBF, demonstrating its commitment to promoting and regulating professional boxing in Uganda.
