Uganda Christian University (UCU) and Makerere University will clash in the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) Games football final at UCU grounds in Mukono on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

UCU secured their spot with a 1-0 win over Kampala University in a thrilling semi-final tie, thanks to Sharif Ssewanyana’s headed goal from Peter Kyomuhedo’s corner kick.

“We have been struggling and rebuilding in the previous two editions.

We look better than we were in the previous two editions and have a chance to lift the trophy again,” said Jimmy Kintu Mwera, UCU head coach.

Kampala University’s tactician, Vicent Tumusiime, was gracious in defeat, stating, “I thank my players for implementing and playing to our plan.

The game was tough, they got one chance and took it, we failed to convert and all went their way.”

Makerere University, returning to the final for the first time in 12 years, booked their ticket with a 1-0 win over IUIU, courtesy of Innocent Kisolo’s late-minute thunderous strike.

Their last appearance was in 2013 when they beat Kampala University in the final, with UCU as hosts.

UCU’s journey to the final included a resilient 2-0 win over Nkumba University, with goals from Isaac Opejjo and Reagan Ssekisambu.

Makerere University eliminated Makerere University Business School (MUBS) 1-0 in the quarter-finals, thanks to Kevin Ssekibengo’s penalty conversion.
