Stanbic Uganda Cup: Vipers SC storm into round of 16 with six-star statement

Defending champions Vipers SC delivered a ruthless masterclass under the lights at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, dismantling Pajule Lions 6–0 to book their place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Seeking a response after consecutive draws in the Uganda Premier League, the Kitende-based outfit wasted no time asserting dominance.

Karim Watambala set the tone inside six minutes, latching onto Rogers Torach’s exquisite long pass before firing home at close range.

Usama Arafat doubled the advantage midway through the first half, punishing hesitant defending with a crisp snapshot beyond the stranded goalkeeper.

Watambala soon grabbed his brace, reacting quickest after Nicholas Wadada’s effort rattled the woodwork, while Milton Karisa curled in a well-taken free-kick on the stroke of half-time to put the tie beyond doubt.

The second half offered no respite for the visitors. Karisa struck again seven minutes after the restart with a powerful finish, and substitute Gusto Mulongo completed the rout late on, converting Wadada’s inviting delivery.

For Pajule Lions, the gulf in class proved overwhelming. For Vipers, it was a timely reminder of their pedigree and title ambitions.
