St. Noa, Kitende, Buddo lead charge as Wakiso Basketball Qualifiers reach semi-finals

Under strict rules and regulations, the 2026 Wakiso District/Zone Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Basketball National Ball Game I qualifiers have advanced to the semi-final stage.

In the girls’ category, defending champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School – Zana, last year’s runners-up St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School – Kitende, Buddo Secondary School, and Zana Mixed Secondary School have secured places in the last four.

Zana Mixed Secondary School, the new entrants, announced their continued dominance in emphatic fashion, dismantling Elite High School – Entebbe 26-03 in a dominant quarter-final display.

Hosts Buddo Secondary School powered past Kira SS with a convincing 27-08 victory, while St. Mary’s Kitende comfortably saw off Kisubi Mapeera to book a semi-final berth with a 36-10 win.

Wakiso, National, and East African reigning champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School – Zana registered the most commanding result of the quarter-finals, cruising to a 43-10 win over Exodus College – Wakiso to storm into the semi-finals.

Attention now shifts to the semi-finals, where St. Noa will face Buddo Secondary School, while Zana Mixed Secondary School will battle St. Mary’s Kitende.

The fixtures mirror last year’s semi-final clashes, where St. Noa and Kitende prevailed en route to the final.

In the boys’ category, Mbogo Mixed Secondary School overcame Merryland with a 31-20 victory, while Kisubi Mapeera edged Bethany High School 16-10 in a tightly contested encounter.

The standout match of the quarter-final stage saw Buddo Secondary School take on tournament debutants Comprehensive College Kitetika.

Despite falling 45-23, the Kitetika side impressed with their flair and resilience, earning admiration from the large crowd in attendance.

Elsewhere, Elite High School progressed to the semi-finals in dominant style, thrashing St. Jonah 49-08.

The semi-final matchups will see Buddo Secondary School take on Kisubi Mapeera, while Elite High School – Entebbe face Mbogo Mixed Secondary School.

The semi-finals and finals are scheduled for Monday, 23rd March, starting at 10:00 am at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.
