St Joseph of Nazareth set to host 6th edition of Elite Secondary School Championship

The stage is set for the 6th edition of the Elite Secondary School championship, scheduled to take place from February 14th to 16th, 2025, at the St Joseph of Nazareth High School in Mpigi district.

The three-day tournament will feature five different sports: football, netball, volleyball, basketball, and handball.

According to Julius Alpha Amega, the head teacher of St Joseph of Nazareth High School, the host school is fully prepared to welcome participants from various schools.

“We are ready to host the games. The playing fields are in the best shape, and the accommodation facilities are ready,” he remarked.

The official draw for the championship was held at the GNS Plaza hotel on Friday, February 7th, 2025, and was attended by representatives from participating schools, USSSA officials, and members of the media.

In the girls’ football category, Group A consists of Kawempe Muslim, Sacred Heart Gulu, Bukedea Comprehensive, and Uganda Martyrs.

Group B comprises Amus College, St Noa Girls, Sheema Girls, and Boni Consili Vocational School.

The boys’ football category features two groups: Group A includes St Julian High, Bukedea Comprehensive, Jinja Secondary School, and Standard High Zzana, while Group B consists of Amus College School, Jinja Progressive, Kisozi Seed Secondary School, and the host school, St Joseph Nazareth.

All participating schools are expected to report to the venue by Thursday, February 13th, 2025, ahead of the tournament’s commencement the following day.
