SC Villa unveils electoral committee ahead of March 22 presidential polls
Ugandan football powerhouse SC Villa, through the registered Trustees of the Villa Members’ Trust (VMT), has unveiled a three-member Electoral Committee to oversee its forthcoming presidential elections slated for March 22.
The committee will be chaired by Brian Kajuba, with Brandon Katura and Desire Mukisa serving as members.
Their mandate will be to steer the electoral process in accordance with the already published roadmap, ensuring transparency and procedural integrity as the club prepares for a leadership transition.
During a recent General Meeting convened on Sunday, members resolved that aspirants for the presidency must remit a non-refundable nomination fee of UGX 100 million, a move aimed at streamlining the candidature process.
Incumbent president Hajji Omar Mandela has confirmed his intention to seek another term, having led the club from 2021 to 2025.
His tenure officially lapsed in November last year, prompting questions from sections of the membership regarding the legality of his continued stewardship.
In response, Mandela and the current leadership maintain that the elections were deferred to avoid clashing with Uganda’s National General Elections, necessitating the March timeline.
