SC Villa Trustees address concerns, unveil plans for stadium construction and elections

Sports Club Villa Trustees have addressed concerns raised by fans and the media, clarifying the club’s financial standing and outlining plans for the future.

Speaking at a media interface at City Oil in Kamwokya on Tuesday, chairperson Gerald Ssendaula emphasized that the club has the right structures in place for members to channel their concerns, rather than resorting to the media.

“We are here to clarify what has been going on in the media of late about our club, SC Villa,” Ssendaula said.

“There are the right structures to which members have to channel their concerns than the media.”

Ssendaula, a former FUFA President and finance minister, revealed that the club had received Ug.Shs 3 billion and 20 million in compensation from Uganda Roads National Authority (UNRA), which has since accumulated to Ug.Shs 4.5 billion in two years at a rate of 34 million per month.

The funds are earmarked for the purchase of land for stadium construction, possibly along Entebbe-road, pending the busy electoral process in the country.

“We received Ug.Shs 3 billion and 20 million as compensation from UNRA.

This money was invested as a fixed deposit and has since accumulated to Ug.Shs 4.5 billion in two years at the rate of 34 million per month.

We plan to buy land for stadium construction, possibly along Entebbe-road.

The whole process is now pending this busy electoral process in the country,” Ssendaula explained.

The Trustees also hinted at the roadmap for club elections, expected in three months’ time.

“We are aware that the tenure of office for the Sports Club Villa executive expired in November 2025.

November was the start of the league and there will also be political business in the country.

We asked for a grace period of three months as a committee will be tasked to organize peaceful elections for the club,” Ssendaula added.

SC Villa, currently fourth in the 16-team log with 20 points from 10 games, are enjoying a relatively successful 2025/26 season under Serbian national Kovacevic Zeliko.
