SC Villa cruise past Seeta United to advance to Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32
Sports Club Villa, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions, effortlessly dispatched Buganda Regional League side Seeta United 3-0 in their Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 64 match on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
The comfortable victory at the Seeta Church of Uganda playground propelled the Jogoos into the Round of 32.
Aslam Ssemakula set the tone for SC Villa’s triumph, scoring the opener in the 3rd minute.
The lead held firm throughout the first half, and Patrick Jonah Kakande doubled the advantage nine minutes into the second half.
Arnold Odongo sealed the win with a thunderous header in the 75th minute, courtesy of a well-weighted corner kick by Hassan Mubiru.
SC Villa joins an impressive list of teams in the Round of 32, including Simba, CATDA, Pakwach Young Stars, Police FC, Mbarara City, Lugazi FC, Wakiso Giants, URA FC, UPDF FC, Maroons, Soltilo Bright Stars, Gaddafi FC, defending champions Kitara FC, last year’s finalists NEC FC, Express FC, BUL FC, and Vipers SC.
At this round, Onduparaka FC failed to show up for their away fixture against Bushenyi Veterans, while Soroti Thunders and Blacks Power encountered a venue mix-up for their scheduled clash in Soroti.
As a result, Bushenyi Veterans and Blacks Power may proceed to the Round of 32 via boardroom decisions.
The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup will earn a coveted ticket to represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.
