Police FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Maroons FC at the Luzira Prisons Ground on Monday, booking their spot in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Quarterfinals.

The decisive goal came in the 9th minute, courtesy of Dennis Kalanzi’s rebound header, which capitalized on Emmanuel Mugume’s effort that was saved by Maroons FC goalkeeper Hassan Matovu.

This win marked a significant milestone for Police FC, as it represented their second victory over their Forces counterparts since 2015 and their first since May 11, 2018.

The Cops had previously endured a four-match winless streak against Maroons FC, losing two and drawing two.

The triumph also highlighted Police FC’s resilience on the road, as it marked their second away win of the season, following previous victories over Express and Kitara FC in the league.

Moreover, this win marked the first time Simon Peter Mugerwa’s charges have secured back-to-back victories in all competitions this season, building on their 2-1 win over Express in Nakivubo.

In contrast, Maroons FC’s poor home form continued, with the team now winless in their last four matches at Luzira Prisons Ground.

Muhammad Ssenfuma’s side has suffered consecutive defeats for the first time this season, following a 3-1 loss to NEC FC in their previous match.
