NIC, Kampala University, and UCU emerge victorious in Netball Uganda 2025 National Rally championship

National Insurance Company (NIC), Kampala University (men), and Uganda Christian University (UCU) have been crowned the champions of the Netball Uganda 2025 National Rally Championship.

NIC completed an impressive unbeaten run, securing six consecutive wins to reclaim their title.

On the final day of the competition, NIC triumphed over Police 23-14, KCCA 21-15, and Alisha Netball Club 30-09, solidifying their position as champions.

Having begun their title defence with a resounding 31-09 victory over hosts Busia Greater Lions Netball Club, NIC continued their dominance, beating KCCA 21-15 and UPDF 28-11 on the first day.

NIC accumulated a maximum of 12 points from six games, with KCCA finishing second with 10 points and UPDF securing third place with 8 points.

In the institutions category, Uganda Christian University (UCU) emerged victorious, winning all three matches in the round-robin competition.

UCU defeated Makerere University 26-15 and Ndejje 28-09, collecting six points in the process.

Ndejje finished second in the institutions category, securing a hard-fought 21-20 victory over Makerere University.

In the men’s clubs category, Kampala University (KU) remained unbeaten, winning both their matches against Red Stars (26-14) and Rising Stars (33-11).

Red Stars secured second place, edging out Rising Stars 16-13 in a thrilling encounter.

The National Rally Championship has made a successful return to the netball scene after a two-year hiatus, with the previous edition held in 2023 at St. Lwanga – Kasasa in Masaka.

This year’s championship featured a diverse lineup, comprising five schools, seven clubs, three men’s teams, and three institutions.
