Michael Mukula Junior, Allan Okello crowned at Fortebet Real Stars monthly awards

During the Fortebet Real Stars awarding ceremony held on Tuesday, 29th October 2024 at Lazo Bar and Restaurant in Kololo, George Michael Mukula Junior was among the sports personalities recognized for their excellent performance for the month of October 2024.

Navigated by Edward Kiyingi, the crew won the motorsport category after their ARC2 category triumph during the 2024 Rwanda Mountain Gorilla rally.

In their Subaru Impreza N14, Mukula Jr. finished second overall behind the defending champion and overall winner Karan Patel (Kenyan) to sit second with 47 points behind Patel 140.

The soft spoken rally driver’s main focus now is on the upcoming Guru Nanak Equator rally in Voi, Kenya (29th November to 1st December 2024).

In football Vipers and Uganda Cranes left footed midfielder Allan Okello won the accolade.

His contribution in Uganda Cranes’ back to back wins over South Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers at Namboole and Juba stadium was unmatched.

The midfielder beat competition from Mbarara City’s forward Seiri Arigumaho and Kawempe Muslim goalkeeper Josephine Nambuya.

Besides the National team, scored a brace for Vipers in their 2-1 home win over Police during the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

During the same event, Augustus Owiny smiled home with the Badminton category plaque having won three gold medals at the recently concluded 2024 City Tyres East Africa Badminton championship at Lugogo.

Owiny won a gold in the singles beating Reagan Nsubuga in the final. He also won another gold under the men doubles pairing with Muzafaru Lubega to defeat Shilton Tayebwa and Reagan Nsubuga and the team event when Uganda beat Kenya 2-0 in the final.

There were four life time achiever’s awards to the management committee of the Kyaggwe Ssaza for reaching their first ever Buganda Masaza Cup final.

Kyaggwe will this Saturday play against Buddu at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in the 2024 final.

David Katono Mutono (head coach), Greg Kikomeko (secretary), Hon, Steven Serubula Kinaalwa (chairperson organizing committee) and the chief Vincent Matovu Bintubizibu (Ssekiboobo) were recognized.
