Mawokota Ssaza has officially unveiled its strong squad for the 2025 Masaza Cup, ahead of their campaign to lift the coveted trophy.

The team, led by County Chief Owek Sarah Nanono Kaweesi, showcased its talented players and technical team to fans and well-wishers on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the Buwama Community playground.

Friendly Match

In a friendly match against 2022 Masaza Cup champions Busiro, Mawokota played out a 1-1 draw.

Busiro took the lead through Lubega Isma’s beautifully taken free kick, but Mawokota equalized through Ssentongo Akabaru’s penalty spot conversion.

Squad Strength

The Mawokota squad boasts experienced players with high-quality talent, including five players from last year’s defending champions Buddu: Emmanuel Egesa, Akram Katende, Puis Ssebulime, Ayiman Twaha, and Owen Rusongeza.

Other notable players include Amour Munogera, the 2024 Masaza Cup MVP, who joined from Buwekula Ssaza FC, and South Sudan forward Mamur Irival.

New Coaching Staff

The team has a new tactician in David Katono Mutono, who replaces Steven Bogere and Brian Sssenyondo.

Mutono’s assistants include Hamidu Kibirango and Ismail Afani, with Ali Kiggundu as the goalkeepers’ coach and Harunah Kyobe as the team manager.

Robert Ssemwogerere will chair the committee, with Vipers SC President Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa serving as the patron.

2025 Masaza Cup Campaign

Mawokota will start their 2025 Masaza Cup campaign against Buwekula at Buwekula Ssaza ground on June 29.

They are in the Masengere group with Buwekula, Kyadondo, Bugerere, Buvuma, and Bulemeezi.

With a strong coaching staff in place, Mawokota is set to make a strong bid for the title.

2025 Mawokota FC Masaza Cup Squad

The squad includes:

Goalkeepers: Emmanuel Egesa, Yiga Ismail, Karungi Ronald

Defenders: Isabirye Reagan, Ayiman Twaha, Akram Katende, Konge Sezali, Aliguna Bernard, Wafula Fleix, Kawuki Akim, Abdul Rashid, Ocuga Collins

Midfielders: Owen Rusongeza, Tendeka Brain, Ssentongo Akabaru, Puis Ssebulime, Munogera Amour

Wingers: Mukwaya Bruno, Isigoma George, Wasswa George, Mbabazi Joe, Ayebare Vincent, Bindodole Alimansi

Forwards: Tabula Abdulazak, Twaha Mukiibi, Santos Agok, Mamur Irival

With a strong squad and coaching staff in place, Mawokota Ssaza is poised to make a deep run in the 2025 Masaza Cup.
