Kyambogo University overcomes ISBAT despite being reduced to 10 Men

Kyambogo University made a triumphant return to the Pepsi University Football League, securing a thrilling 2-1 victory over ISBAT University despite playing with 10 men for most of the second half.

The match was marked by drama, resilience, and determination from both teams.

Kyambogo University got off to a flying start, with Komakech Emmanuel scoring in the 3rd minute.

However, ISBAT University quickly responded, leveling the score just three minutes later through Akantambira Daniel.

The game took a dramatic turn when Kyambogo goalkeeper Mushemeza Edgar was shown a straight red card for handling the ball outside his area, forcing his team to play with 10 men.

Despite being outnumbered, Kyambogo University managed to snatch the winner in the 82nd minute through Odong Ivan, who capitalized on a rare counterattack.

ISBAT University protested that one of their forwards had been fouled in the box moments before the goal, but the referee waved play on, allowing Kyambogo to complete a famous victory.

With this win, Kyambogo University tops Group C with three points, marking a dream return to the competition.

The Pepsi University League continues on Friday with 2019 champions Uganda Christian University hosting Ndejje University in Mukono.
