The 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup continued on Friday, January 24th, 2025, with the round of 64 matches taking place at various venues.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club secured a spot in the round of 32 after defeating Northeast region-based 403 Brigade 2-0 at the St Daniel Comboni SS playground in Napak district.

Arafat Kiza Usama scored a brace, with the first goal arriving after 20 minutes, courtesy of an assist from Derrick Nsibambi.

Usama curled home his second goal seven minutes later, following James Mubezi’s assist.

Nsibambi had a potential third goal for KCCA disallowed for an offside call in the 65th minute.

In other matches played on the same day, Mabira TC edged FUFA Big League side Ntugasaze 1-0 at the Nyakasura playground in Fort Portal. Rwenzori Lions defeated another FUFA Big League entity, Busoga United, 2-1 at the Airline ground in Bwera.

Bugoigo Leopards outsmarted Booma 1-0 at the Bugoigo Park, courtesy of Ivan Adubango’s goal.

Total, the home side in Yumbe district, defeated visiting Arua Hill 2-0 at the Swinga Stadium.

KCCA FC, a 10-time winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, joins other qualified clubs in the round of 32, including current cup holders Kitara, 10-time champions Express, and 9-time winners Sports Club Villa.

Other teams that have advanced to the round of 32 include BUL, Vipers, Simba, CATDA, Pakwach Young Stars, Police, Mbarara City, Lugazi Football Club, Wakiso Giants, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF), Maroons, Soltilo Bright Stars, Gaddafi, and last year’s losing finalists NEC.

Bushenyi Veterans and Blacks Power may also book their berths to the round of 32 via boardroom decisions after their respective opponents failed to honour their games.

Onduparaka failed to travel to Bushenyi for their contest against Bushenyi Veterans, while Blacks Power reported to Soroti for their match with Soroti Thunders, who turned up at another venue.

The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup qualifies to represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.
