Kawempe Muslim Secondary School once again underlined their supremacy in girls’ football, cruising past hosts Nkoma Secondary School with a 2–0 victory to clinch their seventh title in the last ten years at the 2026 Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) Solidarity Games.

The final, played on Monday afternoon, April 6, at Mbale City Stadium, saw Kawempe successfully defend their crown in front of a fully packed and vibrant crowd.

After a tightly contested first half, the breakthrough arrived in the second period, with Proscovia Namataka and Belindah Hope Nabawanuka finding the net to seal a deserved victory.

Namataka, Kawempe’s towering forward, delivered a standout tournament performance and was deservedly named the Most Valuable Player (MVP), capping off an impressive individual campaign.

Nkoma Secondary School had entered the final in commanding fashion, having dismantled 2016 champions Masaka Secondary School 3–0 in the semi-finals.

Sharifah Namukuve was the star of that encounter, netting a brilliant hat-trick at Mbale City Stadium to propel the hosts into the title decider.

Kawempe’s path to the final, however, was far from straightforward.

They edged their own B side, Kawempe Muslim Juniors, 1–0 in a tightly contested semi-final, with Belindah Hope Nabawanuka scoring the decisive goal—her third of the tournament—to send the defending champions into their eighth consecutive final.

The showdown was a repeat of the 2025 final, where Kawempe had convincingly beaten Nkoma SS 3–0 at Namagabi Secondary School Grounds in Kayunga.

In that encounter, Agnes Nabukenya, Monica Nanono, and Kevin Nanyunja were all on target as Kawempe lifted the trophy.

On their route to this year’s semi-finals, Kawempe topped a three-team group with a perfect six points, registering a 3–0 victory over Kakungulu Memorial and a 3–1 win against Masaka Secondary School.

Nkoma, on the other hand, progressed as Group B leaders after victories over Kawempe Muslim Juniors, Kinaawa High School, and Kigumba Secondary School.

The final was graced by UMEA Patron Prince Kasim Nakibinge, adding prestige to an already electrifying occasion.

The 2026 edition of the games commenced on Thursday, April 2, and concluded on Monday evening, April 6.
