The 2025 Association of Uganda University Sports Association (AUUS) Games Netball Championship got off to a thrilling start, with Kampala University (KU), Uganda Christian University (UCU) and Nkumba University registering impressive wins in the opening fixtures.

Kampala University, led by Jesse Asiimwe, thumped Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) 64-05, setting the tone for the tournament.
Meanwhile, Nkumba University edged out last edition’s champions, Victoria University, 28-25, in a closely contested match.
Nkumba University’s win was a testament to their resilience, as they fought back from a two successive quarter deficit to take the lead in the final quarter.

Hosts Uganda Christian University (UCU) also got off to a winning start, defeating Makerere University Business School (MUBS) 51-08.
Other results from day one saw St. Lawrence University beating Bishop Stuart University 35-19, Makerere University thrashing Kyambogo University 41-10, and Bugema University easing past Gulu University 40-19.
The 20th edition of the Inter-University Games is being held at UCU in Mukono, with 12 universities competingin Netball.
Victoria University is the reigning Netball champions, while Ndejje University won the overall trophy at last year’s edition.
