St. Mary’s Secondary School, Migadde registered the most emphatic victory of the opening day at the 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Wakiso Zone championship, thrashing City Revival 9-0 in their group opener.

Akisam Ssegawa delivered a record-breaking performance, netting five goals — the highest individual tally of the day.

He was ably supported by Kasim Tebusweke, who struck a brace, while Ryan Jingo and Abudurahman Mutebi each added a goal to complete the rout.

The second biggest win came from Buddo Secondary School, who dismantled Wampeewo Ntake 7-0 in a dominant display. Ambrose Aboyi led the charge with four goals, while Abasi Kisambira contributed a hat-trick to seal an emphatic victory.

Meanwhile, Zana Mixed Secondary School secured a convincing 3-1 triumph over Kampala Islamic Secondary School. Sharif Koone found the back of the net, while Samuel Sekyanzi’s brace ensured a well-deserved win for Zana.

Greenlight Islamic Secondary School, Nansana also edged Light High School, Sseguku 1-0, with Elvis Kimuli scoring the all-important goal.

The official opening fixture featured Matugga Zone champions Kyadondo Secondary School against Ndejje High School.

Fresh from clinching their maiden Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) football title, Kyadondo SS maintained their fine form with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over a resilient Ndejje side. Masuud Rafael converted from the penalty spot in the final five minutes to secure the win.

In an unfortunate turn of events, Andy Mwesigwa Education and Sports Centre (AMESCO) failed to show up for their fixture, handing St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School, Kitende a walkover.

The championships, which kicked off on Wednesday, 8th April, will climax on Tuesday, 14th April at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

Looking ahead, the boys’ national football championship will take place in Lira at Lira Town College from 10th to 19th May, while the girls’ national championship is scheduled for Seroma Christian High School in Mukono from 29th April to 9th May.
