In its efforts to extend its reach to women in sports in particular in football, Finance Trust Bank has entered a two billion shillings (UGX 2,000,000,000) investment in women’s football in partnership with FUFA.

Under this partnership, one billion seven hundred thousand shillings (UGX 1,700,000,000) will be going directly to FUFA over a period of four years broken down to three hundred fifty million per year (350m per annum) with the rest being spent on sponsorship activation.

Speaking at the announcement of the partnership, Finance Trust Bank Managing Director, Ms. Annet Nakawunde Mulindwa said the sponsorship is in line with the bank’s mission of putting women first.

“Finance Trust Bank was first established in 1984 to support women in business and management to achieve their financial dreams. The bank has grown since then and today we have a network of over 35 branches supporting over half a million women across the country.

We are excited to now extend our support to women in sports and I am pleased to formally announce Finance Trust Bank’s two billion shillings sponsorship of the FUFA Women’s Football programme,” Ms Mulindwa said.

FUFA President, Hon. Eng. Magogo Moses welcomed the sponsorship saying it is a validation of the success of FUFA’s women football programme.

“Many year’s ago, FUFA began to seriously invest in and promote women’s football. This Investment has seen Uganda grow tremendously in this area and Uganda has established itself as a women’s football powerhouse in the CECAFA region.

But our ambitions don’t stop there. Uganda has the talent to compete and win at both the continental and global level and we believe that with support both from the government of Uganda and corporate sponsors like Finance Trust Bank we shall be able to do so,” Magogo said.

“Under this partnership, Finance Trust Bank is now the title sponsor of both the Finance Trust Women’s Super Leaue and the Finance Trust Women’s Elite League and as FUFA we are very excited about this partnership and we believe it is going to go very far hopefully all the way to the World Cup,” Magogo added.

The 2024/25 season of the Finance Trust Women’s Super League and Finance Trust Women’s Elite League are scheduled to kick-off at the end of September 2024.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC are the 2023/24 FUFA Super League champions. This became their fifth league title
