The 2024/25 FUFA Big League season came to a thrilling conclusion on Saturday, June 21st, with Calvary FC, Gaddafi FC, and Buhimba United Saints FC securing promotion to the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League.

The three teams finished in the top three positions, with Calvary FC emerging as champions.

Promotion and Relegation

Calvary FC finished top of the 15-team table with 52 points, earning them a spot in the Uganda Premier League next season.

Gaddafi FC and Buhimba United Saints FC followed closely, finishing second and third with 50 points each.

On the other hand, MYDA FC, Arua Hill SC, and Busoga United were relegated to the Regional League, marking a significant fall for the three former top-flight sides.

Dramatic Matches on the Final Day

The final day of the season saw some dramatic matches, with Kigezi Homeboyz securing a 1-0 win over MYDA FC to avoid relegation.

Joseph Sserembe’s goal proved to be the decisive factor, ensuring Kigezi Homeboyz’s spot in the FUFA Big League next season.

Meanwhile, Blacks Power beat Busoga United 2-0, but it wasn’t enough to secure promotion to the top flight.

Relegation Battles

MYDA FC and Arua Hill SC finished 12th and 13th, respectively, with 32 points each, while Busoga United finished 14th with 30 points.

Arua Hill’s 10-0 thrashing of Booma FC wasn’t enough to save them from relegation, while Busoga United’s defeat to Blacks Power sealed their fate.

Booma FC, who had already been relegated, finished with 16 points.

Coronation Ceremony

The newly crowned Big League champions, Calvary FC, will have their coronation ceremony on Sunday, marking the end of the 2024/25 season.

The team will look to build on their success and make a strong impression in the Uganda Premier League next season.
