Real Stars Sports Agency, the organisers of the monthly Fortebet Real Stars Awards on Tuesday recognised February’s top performers across three disciplines—chess, football and badminton—at a ceremony held at Molecule.

In chess, Kampala University first-year student Nyola Wasswa Mark claimed the accolade after an outstanding display at the Uganda National Chess Championship (Super 12) staged at Sport View Hotel in Kireka.

Pursuing a Bachelor of Information Technology, Nyola emerged overall winner of the championship, which also acted as a selection event for Uganda’s national team ahead of the 2026 World Chess Olympiad due in Uzbekistan this September.

He finished ahead of Olivia Asiimwe and Sana Omprakash to secure the gong.

Football honours went to NEC FC’s Richard Basangwa following an electric start to his career at Lugogo.

The forward announced himself in style with a brace on his debut against KCCA FC last month. Basangwa edged out Entebbe UPPC goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa and Vipers forward Milton Karisa, who were also impressive during the period under review.

In badminton, Fadilah Shamika Mohammed Rafi was recognised for her golden performance at the All Africa Senior Badminton Championship in Gaborone, Botswana.

She captured gold in the women’s singles after a thrilling 2-1 victory over South Africa’s Johanita Scholz (21-17, 16-21, 21-19).

Shamika further teamed up with Tracy Naluwooza to win bronze in the women’s doubles at the same championship.

All the winners received cash prizes and accolades courtesy of Fortebet and Jude Color Solutions.
